CVGT 1st Rd: #5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) vs #12 Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (Sega Region)

Early Sega Genesis gets representation here in our next matchup:

    Sega Region

#5 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade)

    vs.

    #12 Michael Jackson's Moonwalker

The Early Genesis era in video games was a special time... Sega was really breaking new ground by introducing the first widely available 16 bit home gaming console, unless you were to count Neo Geo in there (but again, I said WIDELY available). Sega, unfortunately, had only two years of HAM. Once Super Nintendo was released, with better graphics and in some cases better games, good night the lights for Sega.

Genesis held its own, but it never overtook SNES in sales. I always enjoyed the simplicity of the first Genesis games... even stuff like Tommy Lasorda Baseball, Altered Beast, the Mickey Mouse game, Road Rash (I know, why is THAT not in the tournament??), and others.

*If I were to do it again, I'd have spotted Road Rash here as the #12 instead of the MJ game. Check it out:

Me too! I mean it took about 20 continues but it was a blast.

Nothing beat getting four people together (even three other strangers) to team up and play each of the four TMNT characters. That's something that carried over to "The Simpsons" Arcade game (with the added bonus of the teamwork combos).
