In honor of March Madness this year, I drafted a "Classic Video Games" Tournament Bracket this year (1976-1991). You can vote on each team to advance as we post the matchups each day. Here are the seedings for the tournament this year:

I would respectfully put Breakout with Arkanoid in there and flip some seeds/divisions. Same general concept but cooler. And having to control the paddle with a wheel. It just wasn't the same when I played it on an Apple IIc with a mouse.

Then again, where would you put Taito (the maker of Arkanoid)?

This is great! I love the juice here... I don't remember baseball stars, interestingly. I remember RBI baseball and the MLB Baseball game; Bases Loaded too.

Something like that; I was thinking along the lines of the polls we do for End of Year awards. I think I can just set up new threads for each matchup.

The next question is, how do I schedule the matchups, but that's something more for an NCAA Tournament mongo...

Probably 3 or 4 a day in the first round and go from there, but like which ones do I choose?

It wasn't the worst, but it was a disappointment definitely. They hyped it up. I remember getting it thinking it would be good, but like Atari Pac Man, I was sorely disappointed.

Not classic enough. The cutoff is 1991, and I did that because that's the time Super Nintendo came out. Once SNES was out we ushered in the Video Game Middle ages... which would be 1992 through about the time Wii and PS3 came out.

UPDATE: I have elected to open voting tonight for our tournament. To finish the first round in a week I'll need several days with multiple matchups. Probably two a day each day until the week is out. Some days we'll roll out more matchups. So, look for our first two games tonight! and vote away.
