Hockey Mongos...

The Kings Drive to the playoffs continues... I gotta give it to da new kid... Dwight King (love the name). I mean he scored 5 goals including the goal to put LA up 2-0 last night and I'm like "Who is this guy????"

And better, Quick has been just amazing... 10 shutouts for the Quick-man, a Kings Record for most shutouts in a year too. (Not sure if that record includes starts from Bernier)

Anyway, people who said, "Lets trade Quick because Bernier is the next best thing!" can get lawst. Quick is the dude, bros. LA just has to work out this scoring scenario; still not that impressive. The game could have been a 1-0 win against the weak Oilers.

Up next is a home and home series against the Sharks. If the Kings can split those games they're in good shape for a spot in the playoffs.

I think if players are immature, they'd be immature for a while, regardless of how long they stay in school. I thought Iverson was a clown maturity wise for a long time...and he was in school for 2 years.
i think it would help both and ultimately it would make the kids a little bit more accountable for what they are doing while at school

i'm not even 100% sure why i feel that way...and i dont know if they would leave more mature after 2 years than 1

heck i didn't leave more mature after 4 years

If they aren't their for an education in their first year, they won't be there for an education in their second year. And what's the overall maturity level of an NBA player anyway? Being forced to play two years in college would just push more top flight players to go play overseas.

I guess it does hurt the college game some, but you are more likely to get kids who actually want to stay in college and earn a degree while playing basketball. Gives a little more relevancy to the "student-athlete" idear.

it's all to benefit the NBA. GM's don't want to miss the next Dwight Howard so they reach for these guys that never develop - at least 1 year of college can help a bit with that

plus, not many people on the national level watch High School basketball, so by letting these kids get the national spotlight in college for one year they are drafting people with name recognition, "stars", whatever, that helps their marketing and brand
