It was definitely the award darling more, but I thought when it won all of the underneath awards, it would carry it to best picture. If you're in the academy, you can vote on whatever you do(act, DP, designer, etc) and EVERYONE votes on best picture. Since so many voted for the Hugo in those other spots, I thought it might be the rising tide that lifted it. If I'm not mistaken thats often the way it tracks but tonight shows there's no guarantees.

you seem to know more about the process than I do, I have no clue... once the director for the artist won though, it was pretty clear it was gonna win the big prize (even the leading actor won)

My cousin has.. Just texted me saying it should have been nominated and Ezra not getting nominated for director is a joke. He said it's beyond fucked up and a movie you will only see once but love it.

How does a movie like Extremely loud..... get nominated? That's the biggest joke of them all.. Jonah Hill was really good but Albert Brooks owned that movie Drive

I'm sure the movie isn't terrible but it's also something I'm not rushing out to see

oscars holed themselves in a corner by expanding the noms after batman, sometimes there might not even be 3-4 great movies a particular year and they are trying to choose 10? good luck
