Paterno will be taking a leave of absence from his coaching position before the end of the week. He will say that he stands by his statement released Sunday night, but he doesn't want to distract from the team. Paterno is on a very slippery legal slope vis a vis his grand jury testimony. He apparently corroborates the graduate assistant telling him what he saw in the shower room, but gave a more general statement to the AD and University Sr. VP. The press release appears to be inconsistent with his Grand Jury testimony.

ESPN report is saying that Paterno was ready to make a statement and take questions on the Sandusky matter at the presser, but then was notified by University officials that the press conference is cancelled. Looks like the University President is engaged in damage control and likely trying to save his own position.

I think it is longer than that ... takes us about 5 hours or so to get to my inlaws in central PA (they are a little south of State College though)

I've probably had a 4hr car ride with Mike (while on the air). OK, make that 2 hours when you subtract out the commercials.
