To each is own...Rap has taken a turn for the worse the past couple years...but there are still a few artists that put out good stuff and thats what I usually listen to. Yeah there are some catchy club songs that get the club going but thats still not good hip hop.

I have a theory that what made disco popular was that it got "white people" laid and was often accompanied by white powders...not to mention dance music is always gonna be popular wit da kids who want to ughhh, get awff. And nobody wanted to keep those AWFUL clothes on, so they HAD to have a kind of music that would make you want to get naked ASAP.

And what "killed" it was the racist and homophobic aspects of lower middle class crossed with the fear and loathing of the Power Elite who wanted everyone to channel that ecstatic and sechsual energy into more "productive" pursuits like Work and Working Out.

The rest of us, more sensibly, just listened to The Beatles/Talking Heads/Dire Straits/Bruce from Freehold/E. Costello/XTC....
