"Glee" is on when I'm at the gym. I see no redeeming value to this show. In a few words: it seems stupid. I'm convinced all the geeky smart kids in the 80s who were supposed to grow up and "run the world" instead went to Hollywood and made TV shows and movies. There is no other explanation for shows like "Glee" and all the vampire, super hero and SciFi stuff that is all over the place.

well, I think the point of it is kids who are unpopular and bullied in high school find their place and can be "stars" ... so it probably appeals to kids who feel they are looked down upon and not popular at school

I just like acapella/show choir singing and think Jane Lynch is pretty darn funny

The other day some called and asked about starting pitching and Mike said that no "bad" team has what the Yankees want, and in listing the bad teams, put the Mets first. "The Mets don't have what the Yankees need, the Diamondbacks don't have what the Yankees need..." I know the Mets are struggling, and I don't watch much baseball, but I don't think they are a "bad" team such as teams like the Pirates or Tamper back in the day.

is even worse. He flat out states the Mets are a bad team ... predicted a "historically" bad season ... and when they were 5-13 he said he didn't think much of because they are a bad team and that is how they were expected to perform

I get what it's about, I just don't watch it. Not for me scenario. A lot of TV is not for me.

And Jane Lynch, to me, is the female version of Will Ferrell. Kind of the same thing over and over.

I know it's cliche but I don't think the Mets are as bad as they were when they were 5-13 and I don't think they are as good as they are now. I think they are a mediocre, hover around .500 baseball team.

If you beat "weak" teams, you haven't BEAT anybody
If you lose to "good" teams, you aren't "good" yourself yet
If you lose to "weak" teams, you are very weak and will never get anywhere

And if you beat good teams, you are a Historic team whose best components Mike will automatically have a Lifetime Crush on

They're exactly the same age, from the same GENERAL part of the Globe, lifelong broadcasters, with similarly overpaid/mailing it in at this stage of their careers gigs.

The biggest differences are: Roe doesn't want to be famous (and has no reason to try to be, and doesn't deserve ANY negative vibes from HIS fans), Mike isn't TRYING to curry favor with Hamptons-Wealthy-Hollywood Big Money types, and Howid could care less about the Jets and Mets.

Indere, I can kind of see what you're saying about them personally. I still think Howard's show is 1000 times more inventive and still fresher than Mike's ripping off something from Newsday as his new segment.

I do think both are mailing things in at this point. I think Mike's ego may be as big as Howard's (though I don't think it is warranted).

The Mets/Jets to Mike are as Jay Leno/Stuttering John are to Howard. Both go on too much how they hate or can't stand these people and it takes up too much of their shows.

I remember Howard talking about Phoebe Snow (and how she used to do Howard's birthday shows and how much he enjoyed them) and I'm sure he's a bit sad. Mike would just say this person "dropped dead" because he's such an ass. Both like to make things about themselves that is true.

When the Mets were 5-13, that was about as bad as this group of players could possibly be... The team ERA was never going to hover around 6 all season...

They are what they are, a 78 win team...

He tweaks da Mets all the time. Usually when him and his BFF Leiter are in the booth though, which was the case the other night.

I think the Mets offense will be sufficient. How they perform will be driven by the starting pitching.

At the beginning of the season Pelfrey, Neisse, and Dickey were not performing well .... now the starters are doing great and they are winning

Pelfrey is a head case but might go .500
Dickey will be ok but I think he's .500 as well
Niese is a lot better than how he's pitched.
Young can be real good when right.
Gee can be pretty good as well.
